What makes Castaways special?
The Castaways is a small, quiet resort where you and your family can come to relax in true Sanibel-Island style. You can forget about phone calls and meetings and concentrate on sunsets and shelling. With a full-service marina, three restaurants and a general store within walking distance, quiet nights and long warm days, the Castaways will be your vacation of a lifetime.

Where is the best place to go shelling?
Sanibel is known as the best place in the western hemisphere for shelling. Unique shells can be found all along the waterline of Sanibel's beaches. The area in front of Castaways, known as "Blind Pass," is one of the most popular areas for local shellers. You can also take a special shelling trip with one of the local guides found at the Castaways Marina. A popular attraction on the island is the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum, which houses the largest shell collection in the world.

Where is the closest airport
Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers is the closest airport to Sanibel Island. It is approximately 45 minutes away and offers shuttles and taxis to bring guests to the islands.

Where can I rent a car?
All major car rental companies are located at Southwest Florida Regional Airport. We have partnered with Thrifty Car Rental to give our guests great deals. Click here for car rental information.

My boat is over the 21' limit for your marina. What can I do?
Our sister resort, 'Tween Waters Inn, will be more than happy to dock oversized boats for Castaways guests if they have availability. For fees and additional information, please contact 'Tween Waters Marina at 239-472-5161, ext. 440 or 441.

Do I need a fishing license to fish on Sanibel?
Most Florida residents and visitors to our state must purchase licenses to fish in salt or fresh water. You do not need a license if you are: under 16; over age 65 and a Florida resident; a Florida resident fishing in salt water from a dock, bridge, jetty, pier or other structure connected to land; or fishing from a boat covered by a Vessel Saltwater Fishing License. The Castaways Marina staff will be more than happy to walk you through the simple process of obtaining a fishing license over the phone from our marina.

What do the inside of your cottages look like?
All of our cottages have a simple, yet classic island style. You will feel right at home as soon as you check in to our resort and feel the warm Florida sunshine on your back. All of our kitchens come fully equipped and our daily towel service ensures you'll never run out of clean towels after daily trips to the beach. Visit our Accommodations page to see pictures of our cottages.

Do all of your rooms have a refrigerator?
Yes. All of our cottages come equipped with a refrigerator. Please call the reservations office for details on other amenities specific to individual cottages.

Are there laundry facilities available?
Yes.  Pay washers and dryers are available for all Castaways guests.

Are there phones available?
Yes. Pay phones are available at the Marina and right outside the Castaways reception area. There is also a guest phone inside the Castaways office with an internet connection for guests who wish to bring along their laptop computer and check their email or surf the web.

Do you have grills/BBQs for guests to use?
